Tibetan Soccer League
A land of freedom, where His Holiness resides, is now a place of bleak survival. Even though situations won¡¯t change drastically, at least we can make a difference in helping clean up the streets.

TACTIC is a non-profit organization that tries to help indigenous communities out in anyway.

During my time in India, living amongst the Tibetans, I noticed that there was nothing constructive for the Tibetan youth to do. Older teens and young adults really have a lack of opportunity in the community for work and, in some cases, proper education. Today, the rise in alcohol, drugs, violence and unprotective sex has become a way to escape their daily lives of despair. Today, for the Tibetans in exile, the world is standing still. For most of us who have countries, identifications, safety and security, the Tibetans do not have the luxury of being a part of a country or a national heritage. For the last 50 years, the Tibetan people have been imprisoned, beaten, exterminated, scrutinized and kicked out of their own country. Their Identity is merely an ownership by the Chinese government. More and more Tibetans, because of the cruel and harsh treatments, are leaving Tibet to seek refuge. As they walk thousands of miles over 20,000 feet high mountains to reach freedom, Tibetans rarely find the egalitarian livelihood they thought they would disperse into. For the regular commoner, life in exile is far from peaceful. Whether it is Poverty, drug abuse, crime and alcoholism, Tibetans are struggling on a daily basis. Where is the escape? Where is the joy? Where is peace?

For a long time, a vast majority of the young Tibetan population has noticed no sign of intellectual progress. A lot of the teens and early adults who make it to India are pushed along the refugee line and are not given the education that is necessary for their wellbeing. This heartbreaking site was unbearable. This is how TACTIC comes in.

The TACTIC Soccer League will help our Tibetan brothers find more joy in their life. Today, Tibetan youth are finding it harder and harder to get jobs. TACTIC aims to bring happiness back to the youth. The Soccer League allows three or more days of practice and on Sunday games will start. Furthermore, TACTIC will require 3 days of english classes. The idea is to join Tibetan youth together for the sole purpsoe to help each other. With team unity on the field and in the class. TACTIC aims to joing these struggling teams to play and work together.

We are trying to create a healthy environment for Tibetan youth. With alcoholism and drug abuse on a rise, TACTIC wants to offer more time to physical activities and class and less time out on the streets. We are currently receiving applications by Tibetans interested in the league. So far, we have over 30 applications. The enthusiasm that the Tibetan youth has been giving us really shows that we are truly making a difference. Now it is up to you to help!

Currently, we need $900.00 for all of our materials. We are trying to purchase over 30 soccer balls, shoes, jerseys and rent for playing on the fields.

The hope is to reach out to the Tibetan youth and give them something meaningful to do. When more volunteers help in the community, we can pair up individuals with volunteers for English conversations courses. We wish to make this soccer league as educational as possible. It is up to us to make a difference!
